12th May 2010 Budget has been released and as expected it holds little good news in the short term. Cuts have been made to cover expenditure and to reduce the deficit in 3 years and not 6. Interest rates rose just last week and many believe another rise will be announced shortly so what to do?
Fixed rates are still very high so it would be my opinion to get the best variable rate deal you can and hang out.
22nd October 2009 Rates have moved up slightly and the RBA predicts more rises before the end of 2009. With the Australian dollar over US$.90 it is odds on we will get another .25% increase. The higher rates have had an effect on house prices and whilst far from a boom time, there are sign values are increasing but probably only sufficient to regain the losses over the past 2 years.
